I had to do this for a few reasons, mainly because I never expected this many people to look at my blog. My last name is very unusual and in order to make life safer for my kids I am trying to not use my last name if at all possible.

Yes, I am having that same problem. Only if I type the new address in the browser or click on your link can I get to your blog. Saving it as a bookmark automatically kicks me back to your original blogspot.
